Memorial Day ushers in the beginning of summer. Perhaps this, along with the end of school, is what we remember most about this day. But it should be one that has far more significance than merely that of a “three-day week-end”.

This is a day for remembering those who have died to protect our country’s freedom. It is a time to honor and remember those men and women who have given their lives in order to preserve our country’s freedom and our way of life. Honored are not only those fallen in the line of duty, but those who have been in service to our country.

A new cookbook is in the works – I don’t believe I’ve told you that I am in the process of writing another apple cookbook – yes, I’m still hooked on apples. But this time it will be a “No Sugar, Low Sugar Apple Recipe Book”. My first intent was to have it used as a children’s cookbook, as most students have a unit of study on apples in the fall and this would be helpful. But so many adults have told me they would really like to have one themselves, so this will be a cookbook appropriate for families of all ages.
