I’ve not been “out there” much these days as I’m getting the finishing touches to my new book. It’s almost ready to go to the printers.

Yes, it will be a real book. One you can hold in your hand and open up on you kitchen counter. I know you can do that with an ebook, too, but here you can flip pages easily and choose just the recipe you want. Plus, it will look good added to your cookbook book shelf!

It’s a new apple cookbook for children, with a tentative title of: Apples – Naturally! The Young Chef’s Guide to Low/No-Sugar Apple Recipes. It’s all about healthy living.

Fruits and vegetables

Foods with little nutritional value tend to dominate kids food. Older kids like to swing though McDonald’s or heat up a frozen dinner. Young ones have been known to eat only hot dogs or chicken nuggets.

How can parents and care givers help children appreciate real food? What is real food? Any food that is whole, unrefined, and plant-based.  This includes foods such as fresh vegetables and fruits, organic free-ranged eggs, chicken, turkey, beef ,and other excellent protein sources.

Shop with this in mind. Be selective. Have it available and ready to eat.  But it’s not the easiest to accomplish, so here are some pointers for planning healthy meals with real food:
