Country smaller sizeHelp your child learn how food plays a part in our country’s cultural diversity.  Each area of our country is noted for a particular food. Some, because of what is grown or raised in that part of the country; others because of its ethnic heritage. The flavors of American cooking are influenced by nations from all over the world.

In the cookbook, Cooking Around the Country with Kids: USA Regional Recipes and Fun Activities by Amy Houts, children learn what food is grown in different parts of the country. Featured recipes show them how to prepare distinctive dishes using the food. What better way to learn about each other than by sharing the foods and customs of  different parts of the country?

Oh, the agony of finding the right ebook cover design.

For Amazon, our ebook, Mukie of a Different Color – Making a Difference by Bob Bohlken needed a new book cover. On my first attempt at getting a cover designer, I indicated I wanted the three characters from our first printed book, Listening to the Mukies and their Character Building Adventures, incorporated into the design.

When that cover arrived, I thought, “this looks really cute” but then I realized that the book is for ages 8 – 12 and resonates more with boys. Here there was a bit too much pink on the cover, I felt. But I wanted the cover to go up quickly so I went ahead and placed it on Amazon.

Adoration of the Wise Men by Murillo

Sending you greetings for a wonderful New Year! I hope you’ve had a blessed and happy Christmas.

I was going to put away Christmas decorations today but we have a fresh snowfall and the lights make everything look very festive yet, inside and out, so they’ll stay. Actually, I like to leave decorations up through the feast of the Three Kings, on the 6th of January.
